A very disappointing experience for a game i was hoping would revive the franchise.
This wii version only had one cinematic cut scene and it was very out of nowhere. It has a silly plot, stupid dialogue, repetitive enemies, simplistic puzzles, dull boss levels and a camera thats just as infuriating as it. The only thing else i would like to add is that i have seen 1 cinematic cutscene from the original version and it automatically gives it one point higher than this version. Rygar: The Battle of Argus has none of those things. Like i said i didn't play the original version but i have seen both characters, and i must say, anime hair aside, the updated color scheme of the outfit, and even hair, is much more satisfying and charismatic.
If only the first 5 hours played like the last 2 this game would have been a couple points higher in my book. The brave warrior of Argus will fight to free his land from evil and to save his beloved Rygar: The Battle of Argus begins (and ends) with a plot so. is the boss battles and level design towards the end of the game. is the music, which has some questionable moments, but for the most part is done very tastefully and well timed.
The diskarmor is one of the most unique main weapons you'll ever use in an adventure game, and the fact you get three different diskarmors that all have very different styles and abilities is what keeps this game at a 5. There are really only 4 good points to this game. The most story you get out of this game (that makes sense) is obtained through scrolls that display story text.
There are loads of great ideas and promising content, but nothing can save it from its almost totally nonsensical dialogue and lack of a cohesive plot. *I have never played the original so i will not give it a rating based on a comparisong between the 2 like some reviewers have.* This game is *I have never played the original so i will not give it a rating based on a comparisong between the 2 like some reviewers have.* This game is truly a tragedy.
